I am writing this letter to offer my full support of the Odyssey Battery for fleet applications. After extensive testing, the City of Rock Hill, SC has been changing out batteries in our police, and public works fleet. The battery has proven that it will dramatically reduce fuel consumption and emission by reducing idle time, while still offering the ability to restart the car.

When the Odyssey Battery is installed, our officers can turn their engines off while at a traffic stop, doing paperwork or any time they are in a fixed position. The battery allows us to run all accessories including emergency lighting, by using the cycling capability of the battery. When the car is re-started the battery accepts a very quick re-charge and is ready to go again. This is impossible with a conventional battery.

By simply turning the engine off, while still having access to our lights & electronics, we have realized and increase of fuel efficiency of about 30% per vehicle. At a time of rapidly rising fuel cost and even greater pressure to "GO GREEN", the Odyssey Battery has proven to be a real winner.

I realize the acquisition cost is higher, but given the features and benefits of the Odyssey, our true cost of ownership is much lower. The battery will pay for itself in a very short period of time on fuel savings alone. After a single month, we will be reducing our overall cost to operate every car in the fleet while, at the same time, reducing our carbon footprint in the community.
