EnerSys steps up partnership level with Team BIGFOOT for 2011 season

EnerSys® recently announced a partnership with legendary monster truck innovators BIGFOOT 4x4 Inc., to supply ODYSSEY® batteries as the exclusive battery of Team BIGFOOT®.  EnerSys will continue to provide ODYSSEY® batteries for the team’s seven touring BIGFOOT® monster trucks, in addition to the team’s fleet of transporters and support vehicles.  All vehicles will sport new, larger ODYSSEY® battery logos throughout the 2011 season.

EnerSys Partners with Hart and Huntington Off Road

The ODYSSEY Battery by EnerSys Powers 2011 Dakar Rally Class-Winning Ford Raptor Team

The ODYSSEY® battery by EnerSys® powered the Ford Raptor Team’s vehicle in the 2011 Dakar Rally, taking the Open Production Class win in the two-week, 9,618-kilometer off-road rally across South America.  The team comprised of drivers Darren Skilton and Sue Mead, drove a Ford SVT Raptor 4x4 truck and held 40th place overall.  Mead is the first American woman to be Driver of Record at a Dakar Rally, and is the first woman to win in an automotive class.

 

ODYSSEY Battery Extreme Pro Team Competes for Second Consecutive Year

EnerSys®, manufacturer of the ODYSSEY® battery, is sponsoring the ODYSSEY® Battery Extreme Pro Team to compete in the 2011 Bassmaster Elite Series Tournament, the second consecutive year that the team has participated in Bassmaster tournaments.  EnerSys® also recruited three new members to the team: Brent Chapman, of Lake Quivira, Kan., a 10-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier; Jason Williamson, of Aiken, S.C., winner of two previous Elite Series events; and Scott Ashmore, of Broken Arrow, Okla., a previous competitor in the Bassmaster Classic.

The ODYSSEY® Battery Extreme Pro Team, comprised of five of the leading anglers in the United States, will compete in the 2010 Bassmaster Tournaments, which will be held from Feb. 19 through June 20. The tournaments begin with the Bassmaster Classic 2010, which will be held at Lay Lake in Birmingham, Ala., Feb. 19 through Feb. 21, to be followed by eight Elite Series events to be held in California, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Oklahoma through June 20.

From the Scrap Heap to the Record Books

The project to convert a small 1968 Sears 124cc motorcycle to electric power started this August in JMU's Alternative Fuel Vehicle lab.  The engine was removed and fitted with a DC motor, controller and other electrical components. Six Odyssey PC680 batteries for energy storage were donated from BatteryMart.com by Mark Jenkins, a JMU MBA alumnus.
